With GTA 6 arriving on November 19, 2026, the biggest buying question left is simple: Standard or Ultimate? This guide breaks down what each edition costs and includes, so you can decide before you pre-order. For everything else about the game, our main GTA 6 guide covers the story, characters and map.
Before you buy: Edition contents and prices below are based on reporting of Rockstar's announcements at the time of writing. Always confirm the final details on Rockstar's official GTA 6 page and your console store before paying.
GTA 6 Editions and Prices
| Rockstar is selling two editions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S. In the US, the Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. In the UK, they’re listed at £69.99 and £89.99, and in Europe at €79.99 and €99.99. If you buy Standard first, an Ultimate upgrade is available for about $20 in the US, so you aren’t locked in. |
Regional prices in other countries may differ, so check your own console store. There’s no PC version, and no PC release date, announced.
What the Standard Edition Includes
The Standard Edition is the full game. Nothing about the main story is held back for the more expensive version, so you won’t be missing any core content if you go with it.
What the Ultimate Edition Adds
Ultimate adds extra single-player content on top of the base game. Reported extras include additional vehicles, weapons, character styles, businesses and properties, with examples such as a 1995 Grotti Cheetah, a pair of Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers and the PTT Youngin$ Compound.
These are extras, not a different game. If you mainly care about the story of Jason and Lucia, the Standard Edition covers it.
Pre-Order Bonuses and Pre-Load Date
Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, and include the Vintage Vice City Pack. It contains a 1955 Vapid Stanier Sedan with a garage, extra styles and an exclusive weapon pattern. Digital pre-orders also come with one free month of GTA+, which renews as a paid subscription unless you cancel it.
Digital pre-loading starts at local midnight on November 12, a week before launch. According to Rockstar’s support page, the boxed version is also released on that date and contains a download code, not a game disc. That means a physical copy won’t save you the download either way.
Which Edition Should You Buy?
Here’s a simple way to think about it.
- Standard Edition: best if you want the full game at the lowest price. You can upgrade later, so there’s little risk.
- Ultimate Edition: best if you already know you want the extra vehicles and properties from the start, and the $20 difference doesn’t matter to you.
- Wait and see: if you’re unsure, hold off until closer to launch. The price is the same either way, and reviews and early impressions will be available by then.
The one option we’d avoid is paying for Ultimate just because it feels like the “complete” version. It’s extra content, not extra game.
Quick Answers
| Does GTA 6 come to PC? Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC version or date. For now it’s confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S only. |
Is GTA Online included? Rockstar hasn’t announced a GTA 6 online mode. Current store listings describe the game as single-player, and the GTA+ month with digital pre-orders applies to the existing GTA Online.
How big is the download? Rockstar hasn’t shared a file size yet. Treat any number you see online as an estimate until pre-loading begins.
Can I get a physical disc? The boxed version comes with a download code, so the game still has to be downloaded.
JoystickVerse Take
For most players, the Standard Edition is the right call. It's the complete game, and you can move up to Ultimate later for a flat upgrade fee if you find you want the extras. Ultimate makes sense if you already know you'll play for a long time and enjoy collecting vehicles, weapons and properties from day one. Whichever you pick, check Rockstar's official page before you pay, because bonuses and prices can change between now and launch.
